Tender Mercies

I flew to D.C. today.  It is great to be back at our nations capitol.  I have a feeling that this week will be great.  Two things happened today that reminded me that there are good people in the world.  These two acts of kindness made me want to pay it forward.  It made me want to be a better person and a better example to those around me.
I was in line to purchase a cinnamon roll at the Salt Lake Airport this morning when I witnessed the first act of kindness that put a smile on my face.  A missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was in line ahead of me.  The women that stood in front of this elder purchased her breakfast with a twenty dollar bill.  She took the ten dollar bill that she received in change and gave it to the checker and said this goes towards whatever the Elder is having.  This lady was not a member of the Mormon church but still had the kindness and respect to purchase the Elders breakfast.  I believe I was ment to witness this service and I am grateful to the Lord that I was in the right place at the right time.
The next incidence was at Regan National Airport.  Teresa, Jerry and I decided to take the Metro to our hotel upon landing in D.C. As we went to buy tickets to board the train a young couple came up to us and said here are some all day passes that we will not be using anymore.  I was shocked at first and my mouth could not form any words.  I am so glad Teresa was there and could say Thank You for us.  I was so blown away that so far away from home such kindness was shown to me.
We do live in a beautiful world full of beautiful people and I am grateful for the times that the Lord reminds me of this truth.
